Webby Nominations: Fallon’s Tonight Show Pulls in Record Haul

Almost all of the major late-night shows are represented in this year’s Webby Award nominations, but none scored as many as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

All told, The Tonight Show nabbed 6 nods at the 29th Annual Webby Awards, improving on last year’s haul of 5. Jimmy Fallon is up for Best Creator, Personality, or Host. His sketch “Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Perform a Song About Deadpool & Wolverine” is nominated in the Video & Film division’s Comedy subcategory, while “Jorts with Will Ferrell & Nick Jonas” is nominated in the Music subcategory.

The Tonight Show’s TikTok channel also nabbed Best Series & Channels nominations in two different subcategories—both Comedy and Variety. The show’s social media is also nominated for Best Use of Vertical Video.

“That is the most that we’ve ever been nominated for,” Fallon announced on last night’s Tonight Show. “And if we lose them all, that will be the most we’ve ever lost. Either way, history is being made.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live! has 4 nominations of its own—down by one from last year. The show’s social accounts are nominated in the Television & Film Social Media category. Like Fallon, Kimmel is also up for Best Creator, Personality, or Host. And JKL’s YouTube is also a dual nominee in the Comedy and Variety sections of Best Series & Channels.

That’s Colbert’s only nomination, although “Stephen Wears Prada” was named an honoree in the Arts & Entertainment Short Form category.

One of the show’s advertising partnerships also netted a Branded Entertainment Comedy nomination: the “Maybelline x SNL50” campaign featuring Vanessa Bayer. SNL’s “50 Seasons in 50 Days” social media series was also named as an honoree in the category of Television & Film Social Campaigns.

The Daily Show scored 2 nominations as well. Its social media presence in the Comedy Social category. Its ongoing web series The Daily Show: Foxsplains is a nominee in News & Politics Social Content Series. Jon Stewart’s The Weekly Show podcast was also nominated for Best Interview/Talk Show Podcast.

Late Night with Seth Meyers received 2 nominations. The show received a nod for its overall social presence in the Television & Film category, pitting Meyers against Colbert and Kimmel. It was also nominated for Best Television & Film Podcast Episode for “Late Night with Seth Meyers: 10 Year Anniversary Oral History.”

Outside of Late Night, Meyers was nominated with Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, and Akiva Schaffer as Best Podcast Co-Hosts for their The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast

Other Webby nominees in the late-night ecosystem include Bowen Yang, who is nominated for Best Comedy Podcast for Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, and Jason Kelce, whose New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce earned a Podcast Video Series nomination.
