Mark your calendars: James Austin Johnson returns to Whoville next Monday, Nov. 25.
Johnson teased the return of his ‘Tis the Grinch Holiday Podcast in a new video (as himself) and audio trailer (as the Grinch).
“It’s as close to perfect as any podcast could ever hope to get,” the Saturday Night Live star boldly claims.
In the ‘Tis the Grinch podcast, the iconic Dr. Seuss character has received a horrible punishment for stealing the town of Whoville’s Christmas presents: being forced to host a podcast.
For the new season, Johnson promised “a little bit more of a storyline.” This time around, Whoville children have had their letters to Santa stolen. The Grinch is, of course, everyone’s prime suspect.
While Season 1 included Johnson’s Grinch interviewing SNL alumni Seth Meyers and Bobby Moynihan, the first Not Ready for Primetime Player revealed to be on his guest list this year is current castmate Heidi Gardner. (“Which is great, because we’re beefing. We’re not speaking,” Johnson joked.)
What’s more: “This season’s got all the charm of a late-night talk show,” the Grinch promises in the just-released teaser on the show’s podcast feed.
According to Entertainment Weekly, other guests this season include Jon Hamm, Nick Kroll, Danny DeVito, Fortune Feimster, Tony Hawk, and John Stamos.
Johnson’s Grinch podcast debuted last November with a 10-episode first season, earning a second-season renewal from Wondery weeks later. The SNL star is a talented impressionist, though you may notice his Grinch voice bearing a bit of a resemblance to that of our forthcoming president.
‘Tis the Grinch Holiday Podcast Season 2 drops next Monday, Nov. 25.
