Devon Walker and Dulcé Sloan to Headline a Silent Comedy Festival

There’s bound to be laughter, but Devon Walker and Dulcé Sloan’s next gig promises to be an otherwise quiet affair.

The two late-night stars will co-headline New York City’s “first-ever silent standup comedy festival” this weekend. Due to sound restrictions, the rooftop show will be transmitted to headphones using the same technology employed by silent discos.

“All set against the stunning backdrop of Pier 57, you’ll enjoy jaw-dropping NYC views while getting your giggles on,” reads an event description for the SILENT Stand-Up Comedy Festival.

The day-long event, which is being organized by the performing arts organization NYLaughs, will kick off with a “family hour” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Musical improv from Dick Patrol follows at 2 p.m., followed by a standup showcase from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Walker will then take the stage as the festival’s first headliner from 5:30 to 7 p.m., followed by Sloan from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Walker joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2022, and was just promoted to repertory status ahead of the show’s upcoming 50th season. He toured his standup this summer alongside SNL castmates Andrew Dismukes and James Austin Johnson, and has an upcoming special produced by Kevin Hart.

Sloan has been a correspondent for The Daily Show since 2017, and most recently guest-hosted the show in April. Earlier this year, she authored the book Hello, Friends! Stories of Dating Destiny and Day Jobs

The SILENT Stand-Up Comedy Festival will be held this Sunday, September 22, at Manhattan’s Pier 57. Entry is free with an RSVP, and will be first come, first served. A credit card or ID will be required to borrow headsets. RSVPs for tickets can be made here
