Comedy Central’s The Daily Show turns 30 tonight, at least as measured by its season count. (The show premiered July 22nd, 1996, so its actual 30th anniversary will arrive this summer.)
Appropriately, Jon Stewart—The Daily Show‘s longest tenured host—will be at the helm tonight as the show begins its third decade on the air. Desi Lydic will then take the anchor desk Tuesday through Thursday of this week.
Stewart’s guest tonight will be Maryland Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, and one of the primary House figures who attempted to hold Donald Trump accountable for his actions during his first administration.
Lydic’s guests this week will be Halina Reijn, writer/director of the film Babygirl (Tuesday), author and social scientist Richard Reeves (Wednesday), and British Actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Thursday).
No major changes are expected as The Daily Show enters its 30th season. Late last year, Comedy Central announced that Jon Stewart would return as the show’s Monday night host through 2025, with Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic continuing to share hosting duties Tuesday through Thursday night.
“I’ve truly enjoyed being back working with the incredible team at The Daily Show and Comedy Central,” Stewart said in a statement that accompanied the announcement of his contract renewal. “I was really hoping they’d allow me to do every other Monday, but I’ll just have to suck it up.”
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m, ET/PT on Comedy Central, and is available to stream next day on Paramount+.
