Netflix is going for the Daily Double with Colin Jost.
The Saturday Night Live vet has locked in a deal to return as host of Pop Culture Jeopardy!, Deadline reports. Jost’s deal comes three months after Netflix swooped in to order a new season of the Jeopardy! spinoff that began its life on Amazon Prime Video.
The quizzer, which hails from Sony Pictures Television, pits three teams of three players each against each other to answer questions about topics like movies, TV, music, and social media. The first season was formatted as a tournament that culminated in a $300,000 grand prize for the winner. It launched in December 2024 with a 40-episode order from Prime Video.
At the time of the show’s Netflix pickup, Jost was expected to return to Pop Culture Jeopardy!, but a deal had not been finalized. The show alluded to Jost’s new deal on social media Friday, sharing a photo of him on set with the Netflix logo emblazoned in the corner.
Jost’s gig as host of the game show contributed to speculation that the longtime “Weekend Update” anchor might depart SNL at the end of its 50th season. However, he and co-host Michael Che returned to the sketch show for Season 51, continuing their run as the longest-running “Update” anchors in SNL history.
Jost isn’t the only current SNL player to moonlight as a game show host. Mikey Day continues to emcee Is It Cake? for Netflix, while Sarah Sherman led the competition series Human vs Hamster for Magnolia Network in 2024.
Pop Culture Jeopardy! is expected to bow on Netflix later this year.
