Jimmy Fallon rang in the solar eclipse as only he can on Monday night’s Tonight Show.
Fallon opened his show with a message to viewers: “We have a special show tonight: Heart is our musical guest, and obviously today is the solar eclipse. So we thought we have to do what we have to do. We have to sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ with Heart, while watching the solar eclipse.”
Donning solar glasses and an eighties era hairstyle and suit, the Tonight Show host then took to the roof of 30 Rock where he joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in a rocking edition of Bonnie Tyler’s 1983 hit. Naturally it ended with a callback to the song’s ridiculous music video.
Monday night wasn’t Heart’s first appearance with Fallon. In 2010 they appeared on an episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The band also performed on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show five time over a ten year period from 1993-2003.
After a nearly five year hiatus, Heart is headed back out on the road later this month on a North American tour with fellow rockers Cheap Trick. The mammoth tour is set to continue through mid December
