Stephen Colbert may have had some strong words for Donald Trump last night, but it’s two other late-night hosts that the president is hitting back at this morning.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to lob what sounds a whole lot like a threat at broadcast television’s two remaining 11:35 programs, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes,” Trump wrote.
The message echoes one he shared days ago in another Truth post, in which he celebrated Colbert’s cancellation.
“I absolutely love that Colbert’ [sic] got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings,” Trump wrote on the morning of Friday, July 18. “I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert! Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”
Trump’s Tuesday morning screed took another shot at Jimmy Fallon—this time by name—after insinuating Kimmel would get the axe. “Shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone,” Trump wrote. “These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!”
Trump’s suggestion that he hopes he “played a major part” in the recent events of late-night is bound to be seen by some as damning, considering the widely felt sentiment—from fans and late-night personalities alike—that CBS’ cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was politically motivated.
Kimmel, for one, fired back at Trump in swift fashion, posting a screenshot of Trump’s post to his own Instagram just minutes ago. “I’m hearing you’re next,” Kimmel wrote. “Or maybe it’s just another wonderful secret.”
That ‘wonderful secret’ is a direct reference to a line Trump is reported to have written in a birthday card to Jeffrey Epstein: “May every day be another wonderful secret.” Nearly every late-night host on air last night took shots at Trump over that alleged birthday wish.

Trump is dictating what can be taught in schools and what we can watch on television. He’s also effectively the Speaker of the House, the Head of the Senate, and has the Supreme Court locked. In other words, as he alone has power in Washington because it’s led by his gutless stooges, he’s by default a dictator—and proudly so. What else can we expect from Trump? Just look to his #1 role model, Vladimir Putin for the answer. He’ll jail whom he pleases, tax and bankrupt all who run afoul, censor critics, and, like his mentor Putin, have people “mysteriously” thrown out of windows. He already disappears Hispanics . He declared publicly that he hates all Democrats —and we know what happens to people he hates. By any definition we’re living in a dictatorship and world sees it clearly even if we don’t. No longer is the US the beacon of freedom. It’s just one more shithole country now.
