Fresh episodes of CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon will get underway a bit later than usual this Wednesday night, due to President Donald Trump‘s primetime address to the nation.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that on Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET, “President Trump will give an Address to the Nation to provide an important update on Iran.”
The Big 4 broadcast networks, which are all in originals, accordingly modified their Wednesday plans to make room for a live address expected to last (ha!) 20 minutes.
Only viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones will be affected.
CBS, for one, will pause tonight’s two-hour Survivor installment at 9 p.m., and resume it at 9:20. This week’s episode of the freshman cooking competition America’s Culinary Cup will in turn start at 10:20, and end at 11:20 p.m.—pushing local news programming and then The Late Show back by 20 minutes.
NBC is taking a similar approach. Chicago Med will air as scheduled during the 8 o’clock hour, but Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will respectively start at 9:20 and 10:20 p.m. ET. Following local news programming, The Tonight Show like The Late Show will hit your screens at 11:55 p.m.
The Late Show’s Wednesday night guests are Academy Award winner Meryl Streep and singer/songwriter Maggie Rogers, while The Tonight Show will welcome Zendaya and Robert Pattinson (of the upcoming big-screen rom-com The Drama), Regé-Jean Page, and musical guest Ent 600.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (which is on schedule for its usual 11:35 p.m. start time) and NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers (airing tonight at 12:55 a.m.) are both dark this week, airing repeats.
