It’s not entirely clear why Donald Trump shared a series of three-week-old articles about his February 14 Truth Social rant against Bill Maher Friday morning, though with Maher set to return to his HBO show tonight after a one-week break, perhaps it’s just a little forget-me-not.
As we’ve reported, the president lashed out at the Real Time host on Valentine’s Day after apparently catching an episode of Maher’s HBO show the night before.
In the lengthy post, Trump mocked Maher’s television ratings, revisited their widely debated April 2025 White House dinner, and insisted that a Truth Social remark about China “terminating ice hockey” in Canada—one Maher had ridiculed on air—had been meant as a joke.
Trump also lumped Maher together with several of the late-night hosts he frequently targets, writing that the HBO host was “no different than Kimmel, Fallon, or Colbert.”
Maher briefly addressed Trump’s tirade on Real Time a week later, dismissing several of the president’s claims about their April 2025 White House dinner before promising that he’d have more to say in two weeks—which just so happens to be tonight.
In a series of messages posted to his Truth Social account Friday morning, Trump linked to seven different articles covering his earlier remarks, with headlines like: “‘Overrated LIGHTWEIGHT’: Trump Roasts Famous TDS-ridden TV host in Valentine’s Day Morning Message,” “Trump Breaks Up With Bill Maher On Valentine’s Day,” and “Trump Rages at Bill Maher: ‘No Different Than Kimmel or Colbert’” (that last one was ours).
All eyes are now on Maher to see how he responds, and whether it will ignite yet another tirade from the commander in chief, who’s fighting wars on multiple fronts.
Stay tuned…
