CBS is banking on two former Saturday Night Live cast members as it firms up plans for is 2025-26 season
The network has picked up DMV, a single-camera workplace comedy featuring Molly Kearney and Tim Meadows.
Per a longline, the workplace comedy follows “quirky and lovable characters” who are “making minimum wage, doing a thankless job where customers are annoyed before they even walk in the door.” It’s adapted from a short story by Katherine Heiny.
The two SNL alums will star as part of an ensemble cast, with Kearney’s character leading the DMV branch at the center of the show, while Meadows will play a tired driving examiner ready for retirement.
Deadline reports that the project beat out three other pilots that were hoping for a spot in CBS’ lineup. It will join Ghosts as the network’s second single-camera comedy.
Meadows is a ten-season veteran of SNL with a long résumé of film and television work that includes roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and 30 Rock. His recurring part as Principal Jonathan “Andre” Glascott on The Goldbergs led to a starring role on the spin-off Schooled, which aired for two seasons on ABC.
Kearney, who joined SNL as a featured player in 2022 for season 48, was the show’s first nonbinary cast member. They announced their exit last August, calling their time on the legendary series “a dream come true.”
Outside of SNL, Kearney has also appeared in Prime Video’s comedy series A League of Their Own, the Disney+ series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, and the Paramount+ film Good Burger 2.
