Jimmy Fallon is hitting the books again this summer, but this time he’s joining unusually crowded late-night literary scene.
On Tuesday afternoon, The Tonight Show host took to social to announce the return of his “Fallon Book Club,” inviting followers to chime in with books they’d like to see selected. “Fallon Book Club is back and I’m looking for your suggestions,” he wrote on X. “Comment below! #FallonBookClub.”
Fallons call for suggestions has already drawn hundreds of comments from fans eager to see their favorite summer reads featured on the show,
The “Fallon Book Club” (sometimes called “Fallon Summer Reads”) originally launched in 2021, with fans voting on a final pick from a list of six contenders. It evolved the following year into a more curated format, with Fallon choosing a featured title and highlighting it across his show and socials.
Fallon has long treated his book picks as more than just shoutouts—he’s hosted authors on-air, boosted lesser-known titles to best-seller status, and occasionally given even the runners-up a healthy sales bump.
But this year, Fallon’s not the only host flipping pages. Stephen Colbert launched his own “Late Show Book Club” in June, promising a new selection and author interviews each month. Meanwhile, John Mulaney is taking a more personal, lo-fi approach, recently launching his book club, “Mulaney Reads,” directly through his social media accounts.
Whether we’re witnessing a new trend or a battle of the bookworms, apparently late night is no longer just for laughs—it’s for literature, too.
