The Daily Show Takes a Three-Week Break, Drops Year-End Podcast

While the network late-night shows have another week of work ahead before breaking for the holidays, Christmas has come early for the cast and crew of The Daily Show.

The Comedy Central series aired its Season 30 finale last Thursday, with host Michael Kosta signing off on behalf of “The Best F**king News Team.”

But the show left viewers with a parting gift in the form of a special year-end episode of The Daily Show: Ears Edition podcast.

The installment brings together the show’s rotating host lineup—Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic, Josh Johnson, and Kosta—for a look back at what they call the “Very Normal Year” that was 2025. Across the conversation, the hosts revisit the year’s strangest news moments, the characters who dominated the headlines, and their favorite bits from one another’s turns behind the desk. The group also shares their predictions for what 2026 may have in store.

Comedy Central announced in November that the show’s entire rotating host lineup is returning for the show’s 31st season, alongside correspondents Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

The Daily Show has enjoyed a popular resurgence since Jon Stewart returned in February 2024 for what was initially billed as a limited, one-night-a-week run through Election Day. Stewart, who hosted the show from 1999 to 2015, also took on an executive producer role alongside longtime manager James “Baby Doll” Dixon. His deal was subsequently extended through 2025—and most recently through December 2026.

The Daily Show’s Season 31 premiere is set for Monday, January 5.
