The Daily Show Is on Hiatus This Week

Viewers tuning into The Daily Show tonight to see Jon Stewart’s take on the latest developments in the Middle East and/or Kristi Noem’s departure from the Department of Homeland Security are in for a disappointment.

That’s because Stewart and “The Best F**king News Team” are taking a one-week break.

The Daily Show is the only late-night show among those we track taking this week off. It’s the second time the Comedy Central series has gone dark in a month. (Its last one-week break began February 16.) The show followed a similar schedule last year.

They’ll be back with new episodes Monday, March 16, 2026. In the meantime, Comedy Central will be airing alternate programming in The Daily Show‘s usual time slot.

As we’ve reported, the show’s been on a ratings run in recent months, with its demo numbers growing year-over-year, bucking industry-wide trends. The Daily Show now regularly draws the most viewers aged 18–49 across all of late night.

Jon Stewart went out on a high note last week, delivering a blistering Daily Show monologue responding to the U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Iran. Reviving a familiar segment title—“Mess O’Potamia”—Stewart skewered the Trump administration’s shifting justifications for the attacks, mocked the bro-ish name given to the operation (“Epic Fury”), and took aim at Trump’s surreal 2 a.m. announcement of the war from Mar-a-Lago, which he likened to Franklin Roosevelt delivering the “Day of Infamy” speech in a novelty visor.

So it’s the bi-weekly show. Not The Daily Show. Got it. 😒

    1. Lou B. says:

It’s not their fault, the recent acquisition by Paramount could affect the show’s future, especially considering how close Paramount’s CEO is to Donald Trump. The show has been critical of Trump since the start of the second term (With fair reason). There may be internal discussions about how the show will approach further comments in coming episodes or whether they will soften mentions to comply with corporate.

Such a great show but they take way too many breaks. Hire more people if you need to but stay on the air.

its the sometimes daily show, other times, its the now & then show.
