The Daily Show Crew Registered More Than 250 New Voters During Their Chicago Dog Adoption Event

The Daily Show made impressive strides this weekend in its dual effort to save both democracy and dogs.

The show held a dog adoption event, The Daily Show Presents: InDogCision 2024: Rescuing Democracy, in Chicago on Sunday where fans had the chance to meet several correspondents and a whole lot of pooches searching for their forever homes.

Held in collaboration with rescue organization PAWS Chicago, InDogCision gave attendees the chance to meet adoptable dogs, and register to vote via HeadCount

The result was more than 250 new voter registrations and “multiple in-progress adoptions.”

The event also featured meet-and-greet appearances with several of The Daily Show’s correspondents, including Desi Lydic, Jordan Klepper, Ronny Chieng, and Troy Iwata. The event, which was held at Chicago’s Gallagher Way, coincided with a Cubs game at the adjacent Wrigley Field—making for a maximum amount of foot traffic.

Attendees were also able to enter to win a trip for two to New York City for a taping of The Daily Show, complete with a “backstage experience” plus airfare and hotel accommodations. (People can still enter that sweepstakes online by encouraging their friends to register to vote.)

The Daily Show is in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention this week. In June, the Milwaukee date of InDogCision, to coincide with the Republican National Convention, was canceled after the show was forced to scrap its road trip following the assassination attempt on Donald Trump

The show announced the addition of the dog adoption events to its usual convention coverage back in June. It kicked off with an event in New York City that same month.

The Daily Show has a long history of championing dogs. Employees’ pets are welcome guests in the show’s offices, as evidenced by the popular Daily Show Dogs Instagram page, which also shared photos and video from the Chicago event.
