James Austin Johnson has his summer off from Saturday Night Live all mapped out. The comedian is embarking on a new stand-up tour.
Johnson will take his comedy to nineteen cities through late August on his ‘Return to Office’ tour, beginning with a special show in Los Angeles on May 29th. For just that show at The Largo at the Coronet, Johnson will welcome indie rocker David Longstreth of Dirty Projectors.
In the middle of the tour, Johnson will also meet up with his SNL castmate Andrew Dismukes for a benefit show in Greensboro, North Carolina. The pair will headline a night of stand-up on July 17th to raise money for Held, a non-profit that “provides, direct, no-strings, attached money to people in need” in the Greensboro area.
“I’m on tour this summer and there’s nothing you can do about it,” the comedian said in a tour announcement. “Can’t wait to see you all.”
Last year, Johnson teamed up with Dismukes and Devon Walker for the nine-city “Summer Jobs” stand-up tour. JAJ again joins the ranks of quite a few faces from SNL who are planning to tour this summer. Please Don’t Destroy, Andrew Dismukes, Emil Wakim, and Jane Wickline’s sketch show Dukes each have a string of dates lined up across the country.
Johnson will wrap his fourth year at SNL with this weekend’s Season 50 finale, featuring host Scarlett Johansson and musical guest Bad Bunny.
