Saturday Night Live staff writer Ceara O’Sullivan is taking her live comedy show, Improv With My Friends From Work, on tour next month—and as the title suggests, she’s bringing some faces and names from SNL along with her.
The long-form improv show has been a monthly occurrence at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, with O’Sullivan performing alongside a rotating lineup of cast members and writers from SNL. “We might read rejected sketches, we’ll definitely do improv, and at least half of us will be drinking on stage,” the show’s description reads.
Past participants in Improv With My Friends From Work include Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Chloe Fineman, Mike Birbiglia, and Please Don’t Destroy.
A complete list of participating staffers for the road shows has not been released, but according to social media posts, among those joining O’Sullivan for at least some of the dates are feature former cast member Chloe Troast, SNL writers Carl Tart and Jimmy Fowlie, and O’Sullivan’s husband, comedian Alex Kagy.
Improv With My Friends From Work will hit three cities in late August: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Boston. The Pittsburgh stop will feature both an early show and a late show.
The show will be staging its next regular spot at UCB this Sunday, July 20.
O’Sullivan joined the writing staff of SNL in Season 48. She and Fowlie, most famous for writing this past season’s “Domingo” sketches, also co-wrote the upcoming Netflix comedy Roommates, which is set to star SNL player Sarah Sherman. She also co-hosts the Webby-nominated true crime-centric comedy podcast Petty Crimes.
