No baby steps here. Saturday Night Live UK is locked in to air four episodes in a row—a feat NBC’s original SNL has not pulled off since fall of 2024.
SNL UK launched March 21 with host Tina Fey and musical guest Wet Leg, followed this past weekend by the pairing of Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan with musical guest Wolf Alice. It was previously announced that English actor Riz Ahmed (star of Prime Video’s recently released Bait) will host the April 4 episode, with musical guest Kasabian.
For its fourth straight episode, airing April 11, SNL UK has tapped Jack Whitehall to host, just over a week after his Peacock comedy The ‘Burbs drops its first season in the UK. The English actor is also known for TV’s Bad Education and The Afterparty (Season 2), and as a frequent panelist on the sports-based UK game show A League of Their Own.
Jorja Smith will serve as musical guest that night, on the heels of the English soul singer contributing the single “Price of It All” to the aforementioned Prime Video series Bait.
Smith was named Breakthrough of the Year at the 2018 AIM Independent Music awards, she won British Female Solo Artist at the 2019 Brit Awards, and claimed Best R&B/Soul Video t the 2023 UK Music Video Awards (for her single “Try Me”). It was recently announced that Smith and Nigerian singer Tems will team for a one-off show at this summer’s All Points East musical festival at Victoria Park in London.
Following its April 11 outing, SNL UK will take a one-week hiatus, before returning for a second run of four straight episodes beginning April 25.
SNL UK airs across the pond on Sky One Saturdays at 10 p.m. GMT, then streams Stateside on Peacock each Sunday (most recently, at 1 p.m. ET).
The musical guest is great, but the presenter has distraught many Brits — even as some also claim accordingly that he’s more than both of the latest and upcoming ones.
