Saturday Night Live announced its first two hosts of 2025 on Friday: Dave Chappelle and Timothée Chalamet.
Chappelle will be joined by musical guest GloRilla on January 18th, while Timothée Chalamet will perform double duty as both host and musical guest on January 26th.
Chappelle is fresh off a seven date co-headlining tour with musician Killer Mike late last year. This will be his fourth time hosting Saturday Night Live. In his previous three visits in 2016, 2020 and 2022, he’s hosted the Saturday immediately following Election Day.
Perhaps not coincidentally, this time around Chappelle will be hosting the last SNL before Donald Trump is inaugurated to his second presidential term on January 20th.
He’s also a controversial choice, having faced increased criticism in recent years for his refusal to stop joking about trans people and other marginalized groups in his act.
Chalamet will be making his third appearance as SNL host, and his first as musical guest. He stars in the new feature film A Complete Unknown, for which he spent five years training to sing and play like Bob Dylan.
He’s already earned SAG, Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations for his role in the film, and with Academy Award nominations currently scheduled to be announced January 19, Chalamet may well be Oscar-nominated by the time he returns to Studio 8H later this month.
GloRilla will be making her SNL debut. The Grammy-nominated rapper has already released three singles off her new album, “Glorious”: “Hollon,” “Whatchu Kno About Me” with Sexyy Red, and “How I Look” with Megan Thee Stallion. Her newest single, “I Luv Her,” features T-Pain.
SNL will be staging just two new episodes this month before taking a month-long break through the month of February in preparation for the show’s three-hour primetime 50th anniversary special on February 16th.
The show’s next new regular episode after January 26th will be on Saturday March 1st, 2025.
