It’s no huge surprise given that she’s a longtime friend to Saturday Night Live and a former host, but this weekend’s musical guest Ariana Grande is set to also make a sketch appearance on the show.
That’s according to Bowen Yang, who let slip during an interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager that he was working on a sketch with Grande that “might” make it to air, saying “we’ll see… we’ll see if Lorne [Michaels] cuts it.” (Hard to believe he would, but stranger things have happened.)
Asked if his feelings get hurt when Michaels cuts one of his sketches, Yang responded “at this point I’m [so] fully callused all around my body that I don’t feel anything. So it’s fine. He can do whatever he wants. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.”
Grande and Yang both have roles in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, and he says they’ve since become close. “We’re real friends … we had a wine night. I brought a rosé called ‘Pink Moon Rosé’ to her house and now it’s her favorite rosé,” he said, adding “she’s the best.”
Saturday will mark Grande’s third SNL appearance. Josh Brolin, this weekend’s host, is also an Saturday Night Live three-timer.
