First on LateNighter: More than a decade after playing obsessive adult Star Wars toy collectors on Saturday Night Live, Bobby Moynihan and Taran Killam are taking their enthusiasm for collecting to a new podcast.
The former castmates and best friends are joining forces with fellow SNL alum Aristotle Athari for On Display, a new series devoted to collecting, hobbies, and fandoms, with celebrity guests joining them to discuss their own interests and obsessions.
Episodes are scheduled to arrive Mondays beginning November 9.
The podcast is produced by Studio Ten42, with Guy Robinson serving as executive producer in association with the comedian-owned podcast network All Things Comedy. The show is sponsored by Sideshow Collectibles, the company known for its high-end pop-culture figures and statues.
Producers have offered few details beyond the show’s premise and hosts, though a trailer (above) —complete with a decidedly MacGruber-esque theme song—offers quick glimpses of guests Ming-Na Wen and Felicia Day.
Moynihan and Killam spent six seasons together on SNL. Moynihan was a cast member from Seasons 34 through 42, while Killam appeared from Seasons 36 through 41. Athari joined the show later for a single-season stint in Season 47.
The podcast’s subject matter should be familiar territory for at least two of its hosts.
In December 2015, Moynihan and Killam appeared alongside Kyle Mooney in a memorable SNL commercial parody featuring grown men who were considerably more excited about new Star Wars action figures than the children they were ostensibly intended for.
As the kids attempted to play with their toys, the adults urged them to keep the figures in their original packaging. Moynihan, an avid collector in real life, later revealed that he’d supplied some of the toys used in the sketch from his own collection.
Both comics also have existing connections to the podcast’s sponsor. Killam participated in a 2020 Sideshow livestream in which he showed off his toy collection, while Moynihan contributed the foreword to the fourth volume of the company’s Capturing Archetypes book series.
On Display also adds three more names to the ever-growing roster of SNL veterans hosting podcasts. In recent years, alumni including Amy Poehler, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Rachel Dratch have launched their own shows, while an increasing number of former castmates have teamed up behind the microphone.
Dana Carvey and David Spade have been co-hosting Fly on the Wall since 2022, while The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast reunites Meyers with Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. More recently, Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney launched What’s Our Podcast? in August 2025.
Mooney, incidentally, was the third adult toy collector alongside Moynihan and Killam in that 2015 SNL sketch. At one point, his character explains why he owns three copies of every Star Wars action figure:
“One to display, one to open and one just in case.”
On Display premieres Monday, November 9 at 9 a.m. Pacific. Follow the show on YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
