SNL Alums Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney Launch New Podcast

Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett are re-teaming for a new podcast, though they’re not quite sure what it is. The two will co-host a comedy interview show titled What’s Our Podcast?

The longtime comedy partners announced their new show with a perfectly on-brand, lo-fi video that evokes some of their pre-taped work on SNL.

What’s Our Podcast? will be produced by Headgum, the podcast network founded by College Humor alums Amir Blumenfeld, Jake Hurwitz, and Marty Michael. The network has become a popular home for comedy podcasts, including Ego Nwodim’s Thanks Dad and Nicole Byer’s Why Won’t You Date Me?.

Keeping in line with talk-based podcasts’ increasing pivot to video, the show will release video episodes on YouTube in addition to an audio version on all podcast platforms.

But as the title suggests, Bennett and Mooney are unsure what to make of the new show.

“We don’t know what our podcast is about,” Bennett admits in the teaser. Mooney suggests that perhaps their guests can help them decide. Indeed, the show has a murderer’s row of comics lined up for its launch, including fellow SNL alumni Bobby Moynihan and Fran Gillespie, as well as comics like Marc Maron, Jack Black, Tim Heidecker, and Tim Baltz.

“It’s gonna be really original,” Mooney says in the trailer, “and people are saying if they don’t like it, that’s okay too.”

Bennett and Mooney were roommates and partners in the sketch group Good Neighbor before they both joined SNL in 2013. Since exiting the show in 2021, Bennett has lent his voice to the Disney animated series Hamster & Gretel and Hulu’s upcoming Solar Opposites. He was most recently seen on the big screen in James Gunn’s Superman

Mooney stayed with SNL for one more season before going on to direct and star in the comedy horror Y2K. He’s currently wrapping up a live tour in support of The Real Me, an album of music he released under his “serious” singer-songwriter alter ego Kyle M.

What’s Our Podcast? will premiere with two episodes on Wednesday, August 27th, and release new episodes weekly.
