Seth Meyers Sets ‘Day Drinking’ Date With Paul Rudd

Somewhere right now, Paul Rudd and Seth Meyers are likely nursing some serious hangovers.

Rudd will be Meyers’ latest “Day Drinking” partner on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and fans won’t have to wait long to see it. The comedic bender has already been recorded, and it’s set to air next Tuesday.

Rudd is currently promoting Death of a Unicorn, a horror-comedy film from A24 due out this Friday, March 28. His press tour already brought him to The Daily Show this week, and he’s set to guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Thursday.

Late Night executive producer Mike Shoemaker shared an on-set photo from the taped piece as it was happening Tuesday. “FYI they are already pretty wasted and we got a lot more to go,” he teased.

Meyers’ last Day Drinking session came six months ago, when he challenged comedian Kevin Hart to a quiz about his co-stars, a straight-faced cue card reading competition, and an intense game of rock-paper-scissors.

Meyers has done upwards of fifteen Day Drinking segments since taking over Late Night. With real alcohol flowing, the segments apparently take too much of a toll on Meyers to do any more than that.

“It used to be easy to say we’re only doing it twice a year, because nobody wanted to do it,” Meyers told Vanity Fair last year. “Now it’s hard. And that’s where I have so much respect for Sean Evans at Hot Ones. Because nobody’s like, ‘That guy’s got a chicken wing problem. We gotta step in.’… My one franchise is just like, genuinely a bad look.”

Rudd’s installment of Day Drinking is set to air Tuesday, April 1. Late Night’s in-person guests that night will be SNL’s Michael Longfellow—in his first late-night appearance since joining the sketch show’s cast—and actor Ike Barinholtz.
