Seth Meyers Sets Day Drinking Date with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers

First on LateNighter: Seth Meyers has found his next victims. Las Culturistas co-hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang will be the host’s next Day Drinking partners on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and fans won’t have to wait long to see the chaos unfold. The segment is set to air Tuesday, September 23.

Yang and Rogers are coming off a milestone summer that saw them bring their Las Culturistas Culture Awards to television for the first time. The annual celebration of “culture’s most iconic and consequential moments” aired as a primetime special on Bravo and Peacock in August, complete with musical numbers, surprise guests, and over 100 tongue-in-cheek award categories. The duo co-hosted and executive produced the broadcast, expanding their long-running podcast into full-fledged event television.

Meyers has taped eighteen “Day Drinking” segments since taking over Late Night, and while they’ve become fan favorites, they take a toll on him. “It used to be easy to say we’re only doing it twice a year, because nobody wanted to do it,” Meyers told Vanity Fair last year. “Now it’s hard. And that’s where I have so much respect for Sean Evans at Hot Ones. Because nobody’s like, ‘That guy’s got a chicken wing problem.’ … My one franchise is just like, genuinely a bad look.”

The last edition of “Day Drinking” in April was a full-on spectacle with Paul Rudd, filmed at New York City’s Globe Bar. Rudd showed up in unicorn cowboy attire, downed a pint of Guinness in seconds, and proceeded to survive a series of horrifying cocktails—including a Knocked Up–themed blender drink of fries, peanut butter, pickles, and whiskey, and a Four Loko–hot sauce monstrosity called the “Romeo + Juliet.” It was, as Meyers put it, “the best time of our lives.”

The Bowen & Matt installment of “Day Drinking” will air Tuesday, September 23. That night’s in-studio guests on Late Night are set to include Bobby Cannavale.
