Robert Smigel’s Humor Me Podcast Gets May 8 Premiere, Star-Studded Lineup

Robert Smigel is ready to humor you.

The veteran comedy writer has announced a premiere date for Humor Me with Robert Smigel & Friends, his long-awaited podcast in which a lineup of professional comedy writers and comedians help listeners write all kinds of prepared remarks.

In the trailer shared below, Smigel recounts some of his comedy bona fides (including SNL‘s “TV Funhouse,” and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog), before quipping, “Now I’m past my peak, so I’m hosting a podcast.”

Premiering this Friday, May 8, Humor Me boasts a team of big name helpers including Bob Odenkirk, David Letterman, Mikey Day, Jim Gaffigan, Ellie Kemper, Dave Attell, Pete Holmes, Alex Edelman, Bruce McCulloch, “and many great writers dedicated to helping the less humorous,” Smigel previews.

Among the “less humorous” whose material Smigel & Co. punch up are an a cappella group comprised of Harvard alumni in need of better on-stage banter, a pair of fading YouTube stars looking to reboot their act, and a man from Turkey struggling to write a fan letter to a favorite comedian.

Smigel’s long list of writing credits include Saturday Night Live as well as Late Night with Conan O’Brien (where he served as the show’s first head writer) and films like You Don’t Mess with the ZohanThe Week Of, and Leo.

Humor Me is produced by Big Money Players, Will Ferrell’s podcast network. A partner of iHeartMedia, Big Money Players has been home to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ show Las Culturistas since 2020. Its roster also includes The Nikki Glaser PodcastMy Momma Told Me (co-hosted by Langston Kerman), and The Amber & Lacey Lacey & Amber Show (with Amber Ruffin).
