Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tops Late Night Ratings Week of Oct. 7

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night weekly live-plus-three ratings on a three (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert dark for most of last week, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! slid into first place at 11:35 p.m., winning the key timeslot in both total viewers and among Adults 18-49.

Kimmel averaged 2,009,000 total viewers with 231,000 P18-49 for the week, per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data. That’s up +6% in total viewers but down -10% among P18-49 from the week prior (week of Sept. 30), and up +16% but down -18%, respectively, from the year-ago week (Oct. 9-13, 2023). Kimmel’s week of Oct. 7 Nielsen ratings averages are based on data from four first-run episodes (Mon-Thurs) and a rebroadcast on Friday.

While CBS’ The Late Show aired repeats for most of last week (excluding Tuesday, Oct. 8), the program still managed to finish in second place at 11:35 p.m. thanks in large part to its one new episode, featuring Colbert’s highly-rated interview with VP Kamala Harris on the 8th. That said, The Late Show did see saw a drop off in average weekly viewership. The program averaged 1,832,000 total viewers with 217,000 P18-49 for the week of Oct. 7. That’s down -20% in total viewers and -17% in P18-49 from the week before; -19% and -19%, respectively, from the year-ago week. Colbert’s week of Oct. 7 averages are based on Nielsen data from one first-run episode (Tues) and four rebroadcasts (Mon, Weds-Fri).

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,266,000 total viewers with 206,000 P18-49 for the week of Oct. 7. That’s up +2% in total viewers and +6% among P18-49 from the week before, but down -8% and -18%, respectively, from the year-ago week. The Tonight Show‘s week of Oct. 7 ratings averages are based off data from four new episodes (Mon-Thurs), and a Friday rebroadcast.

After The Tonight Show, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 936,000 total viewers with 140,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m. for the week of Oct. 7. That’s down -1% in total viewers, and -5% among P18-49 from the previous week, up +3% but down -23%, respectively, from the year-ago week. Meyers’ week of Oct. 7 Nielsen ratings averages are based on data from four new episodes (Monday-Thursday) and a Friday rebroadcast.

Following Kimmel, ABC’s late night news program Nightline averaged 1,007,000 total viewers with 129,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m. for the week of Oct. 7, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s up +3% in total viewers but down -11% among P18-49 from the week prior, up +5% but down -23%, respectively, from the year-ago week.

After The Late Show, CBS aired repeats of After Midnight last week. The program averaged just 594,000 total viewers with 111,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m. for the week of Oct. 7. That’s down -4% in total viewers and -14% among P18-49 from the week prior. The show’s Nielsen ratings averages for this past week are based on data from five rebroadcasts (Monday-Friday), whereas the week prior featured four first-run episodes and a Friday rebroadcast.

Finally, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show aired four new episodes (hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday and Jordan Klepper Tuesday through Thursday). The program averaged 1,018,000 total viewers with 177,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s up +6% in total viewers and down -6% among P18-49 from the week prior.

    None of them come close to beating Gutfeld! because they stopped funny and started propaganda years ago. Hope they all enjoy their leftist echo chamber while they get consistently beat by a show with few writers and a tiny budget. Theyay think they’re funny but America doesn’t. The jokes on them.
