First on LateNighter: Greg Gutfeld apparently brought his Fox News audience with him on his visit with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last Thursday.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Thursday’s Tonight Show drew an average 1.71 million total viewers.
Though several Tonight Show episodes airing after football games and the Olympics opening ceremony over the last couple of years have drawn larger audiences, Thursday’s numbers represent the show’s highest ratings for a regular episode since December 19, 2023, when an episode following The Voice finale drew 1.74 million viewers.
While likely some of Thursday’s viewers can be attributed to the night’s lead guest, the Jonas Brothers, unusually, the show’s share of the total viewing audience increased during Gutfeld’s segment compared the half hour preceding it. (Late-night shows generally lose share as the hour progresses.)
Another indication of viewer interest in Gutfeld’s sit-down with Fallon can be found on the show’s YouTube channel, where the Gutfeld interview is the week’s most-viewed clip by a large margin, drawing 916,000 views as of this writing. (The runner-up, at 412,000, is a performance from PinkPantheress.)
As LateNighter’s Bill Carter wrote Friday, those tuning in hoping to see fireworks between the two late-night hosts would have been disappointed. Fallon and Gutfeld avoided talk of both politics and late-night rivalries in a jovial ten minute-long chat.
The following night on his own show, Gutfeld praised Fallon, saying “It took guts” to invite him on the show, and dragged those who expected him to attack the NBC host, noting that he “went on the show for the same reason I started [my own] show. Late-night needs more fun. I was a gracious guest to a nice guy.”
Though Gutfeld’s visit gave The Tonight Show a significant ratings boost among total viewers Thursday, it wasn’t enough to beat Fallon’s 11:35 pm rival, Stephen Colbert, who won the hour with an average 2.1 million viewers.

uh….The Jonas Brothers were playing Met Life Stadium, a couple days later, and are probably the biggest current pop-rock band in the US. That had a little more to do with it. Also Gutfield is NOT a Late Night Show, it airs 7 pm on the West Coast. Stop with the Stupid.

Yeah, maybe a lot of them were like me, recording it to watch the next day, tuning in to see what all the talk was about, then after listening to a few minutes of the crap coming out of his mouth and him thinking he was sooooo funny, I erased the rest of it. Not worth wasting even a minute more of my time. He belongs back on fox, and he should stay there.

Lmao! First off, plenty of people know who Greg Gutfeld is. His show pulls in about a million more viewers than Colbert & 2X the viewers of Fallon or Kimmel, so I think it’s fair to say no one was watching Fallon to discover WHO Gutfeld is. Second, many (like me) were watching because it was interesting to see two comedians have a conversation without the need to tear one another down. The segment reminded me of the old Tonight Show; Carson NEVER discussed his politics. It was a refreshing change to watch the two chat *without* bringing their political beliefs into the conversation.
Yeah, people know who Gutfool is! Another ignorant Fox News right wing hack who thinks he’s the funniest guy around! The only ones dumber and more pathetic than him, are retards like you who have no fucking clue what good entertainment is!
