NBC is keeping it all in the family for its red carpet coverage of Saturday Night Live‘s 50th anniversary special Sunday night.
Willie Geist and Leslie Jones will lead the network’s coverage with help from correspondent Matt Rogers.
All three have ties to the network and/or the show.
Geist is the host of NBC News’ Sunday Today with Willie Geist. He’s also a co-host on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and a regular host of Today.
Jones, of course, was a cast member and writer on SNL from 2014 to 2019. She’s also an accomplished comedian, performing stand-up nationwide, and actress whose film credits include Sing, Coming 2 America and Ghostbusters.
Comedian, actor, and writer Matt Rogers co-hosts the popular pop culture podcast Las Culturistas with Bowen Yang. Hs film and television credits include No Good Deed, I Love That For You and Fire Island .
NBC broadcast a similar special ahead of SNL‘s 40th in 2015 from a tented red carpet area lining the southwest corner of the Rockefeller Center skating rink leading into 30 Rock. Much like the red carpet at The Oscars and other awards shows, bleachers were set up for fans to cheer arriving stars as they stopped to chat with different press outlets lining the carpet, including the network itself.
SNL will also be hosting a separate red carpet live stream across all of its social and digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok. Chicken Shop Date host Amelia Dimoldenberg will be leading its online coverage.
Both red carpet shows begin Sunday night at 7pm ET/4pm PT just ahead of SNL‘s live three-hour primetime special at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
