CBS Sets Date for Lorne Michaels-Produced Nate Bargatze Holiday Special

This holiday season, get jolly with the “Nicest Man in Stand-Up.” Comedian Nate Bargatze’s new primetime holiday-themed variety special, Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas, is set to premiere on Dec. 19 from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas will feature a mix of stand-up comedy, pre-taped comedy shorts, sketches, and musical performances. The network says that the special will spotlight “the heart and spirit of Nashville during the holiday season and highlighting family, fun, and feel-good moments.”

“I’m extremely excited to be creating this special as I have long been a big fan of variety, and we don’t see enough of it,” Bargatze said in a statement. “I want to make a great show for families to gather around and watch together, and I couldn’t be in better hands than with this team.”

The holiday variety show is scheduled to tape at the Grand Ole Opry—where Bargatze began his career as an entry-level employee—this Thursday, Nov. 21. Beyond its CBS broadcast, the show will also be available to stream on Paramount+.

Lorne Michaels serves as an executive producer on the special, along with Erin David and Andrew Singer of Broadway Video, plus Tim Sarkes and Alex Murray of Brillstein Entertainment. Saturday Night Live writing partners Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell—who teamed up with Bargatze on his “Washington’s Dream” sketch last season (and its sequel this season)—are also involved in the production.

Bargatze, who hosted SNL for the second time this October, also recently struck up a new deal with Netflix to produce two more specials. The first, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, is set to premiere globally on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Christmas marks the comedian’s fifth overall special. His previous work includes Full Time Magic for Comedy Central, The Tennessee Kid and The Greatest Average American for Netflix, and Hello World for Amazon’s Prime Video.
