Just days after posting a second Saturday Night Live hosting stint to his resume, Nate Bargatze is adding two more Netflix specials as well.
Netflix announced this morning that the comedian will debut two new comedy specials for the streamer, with the first one out this winter. Your Friend, Nate Bargatze will premiere globally on December 24, giving the family-friendly comedian a potentially massive Christmas Eve audience.
Your Friend, Nate Bargatze will find Bargatze discussing “wanting a second dog, how much pizza to order for guys night, his wife being the responsible one, and more,” according to Netflix.
Bargatze has released four standup specials to date, and this latest deal marks his return to Netflix. He made his debut special, Full Time Magic, for Comedy Central, then made two for Netflix: 2019’s The Tennessee Kid and 2021’s The Greatest Average American. In 2023, he took his talents to Amazon Prime Video for Hello World.
Separately, Bargatze is also teaming up with SNL creator Lorne Michaels and writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell on a holiday-themed variety special for CBS.
While Michaels isn’t involved in Bargatze’s new Netflix specials, there is some serious late-night talent behind the scenes. The comedian is set to executive produce Your Friend, Nate Bargatze alongside John Irwin (Seth Meyers: Dad Man Walking, Adam Sandler: Love You), Alex Murray (@midnight, The Jim Jeffries Show, Lights Out with David Spade), and Tim Sarkes (Mr. Show with Bob and David). Ryan Polito, who helmed Bargatze’s first two Netflix special, will return to direct.
Details on the second of Bargatze’s new Netflix specials have yet to be announced.
Bargatze’s return to SNL this past weekend was met with almost universal critical acclaim, spawning a series of viral sketches, including “Water Park,” “Mile-High Burger Challenge,” and “Washington’s Dream 2“—a sequel to Bargatze’s breakout Season 49 sketch.
