Michael Strahan Will Reach a Tonight Show Milestone Tonight

Michael Strahan is set to hit a new milestone on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, breaking his own record.

The Good Morning America anchor and former football player will make his 20th appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tonight—the first person to do so on Fallon’s program.

Strahan had already been safely cemented as Fallon’s most frequent booking. Even before Monday night’s appearance, he is three guest spots ahead of runner-up Andy Cohen, who has made 16 visits to the show. Kevin Bacon sits in third place with 15 visits. Tyler Perry, Will Ferrell, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato are close behind with 14 apiece.

While 20 appearances is a record for Fallon’s edition of The Tonight Show, it’s certainly not one for the franchise as a whole. It’s still a far cry from David Brenner, who appeared on Carson’s Tonight Show more than 150 times in a 20-year span.

Strahan also made four appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, but that wasn’t a record for the 12:35 a.m. show. Fallon’s bestie Justin Timberlake made nine appearances on Late Night (helped by a weeklong residency in 2013). But Timberlake has slowed his pace in Fallon’s Tonight Show era, appearing only eight times so far (including last week). Strahan is poised to become Fallon’s first Tonight Show 20-Timer.

Still, Strahan and Fallon will have a lot of catching up to do. Strahan hasn’t been a guest on the show since April 2023—nearly 17 months ago. That’s the longest he and Fallon have ever been apart.
