For years, Jimmy Fallon has teased the idea of releasing a holiday album. Now it has an official release date.
While chatting with Justin Timberlake on Monday night’s show, the Tonight Show host let it slip that his long-gestating record, which he has previously stated will be called Holiday Seasoning, is slated for a November 1 release.
Fallon revealed that he and Timberlake recorded a duet for the album at New York City’s famed Electric Lady Studios, and even played a clip from the track.
Official album information has not yet been released, but it’s not the first time Fallon has teased the project. In January, he told SiriusXM that the record would be “an album of comedy songs.”
“I’ve been working on one for a couple of years,” he told E! News back in March. “It’s silly. There’s comedy songs. There’s traditional songs on there. There’s a couple duets. It should be a good mix. It’s like a good holiday mixtape.”
Fallon has made it a tradition to release holiday songs over the last few years. Since 2020, he has recorded “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion, “Wrap Me Up” with Meghan Trainor, and “Almost Too Early for Christmas” with Dolly Parton.
Fallon’s love of the holidays is well documented. The host pulls out all the stops for the season with various holiday bits on The Tonight Show, and did the same on Late Night and Saturday Night Live. Together with Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan, and Horatio Sanz, Fallon made it a tradition over several years to perform the original Christmas song he co-wrote with Sanz, “I Wish It Was Christmas Today.”
More recently, Fallon wrote the 2020 children’s book 5 More Sleeps ’til Christmas (which was just joined by a Halloween-themed spinoff, 5 More Sleeps ’til Halloween).
Holiday Seasoning will be Fallon’s first proper album release since 2012’s Blow Your Pants Off, a collection of songs that all originated on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
