Ramy Youssef SNL Delivers Smallest Audience Since December

Ramy Youssef may have made SNL history as the first Arab Egyptian named Ramy to ever host the sketch show, but the episode’s Nielsen ratings weren’t quite as historic.

Youssef, a standup comedian, actor and director, was joined by musical guest Travis Scott for the March 30, 2024 episode of Saturday Night Live. It averaged 3,892,000 total viewers and 803,000 P18-49 viewers, per live-plus-same-day data from Nielsen.

Out of the 15 SNL episodes that have aired this season to-date, the March 30 episode comes in at No. 13 overall in total viewers, and is -16% from the most-recent SNL episode (hosted by Josh Brolin on March 9, 2024). It’s also the smallest total linear SNL audience since Dec. 2, 2023 episode hosted by Emma Stone.

SNL’s 803,000 P18-49 viewer live-plus-same-day average on March 30 also ranks No. 13 out of the show’s 15 episodes this season to-date. That’s -15% from the Brolin episode on March 9. The 803,000 P18-49 viewer average for March 30 represents the show’s smallest demo audience since that same 2, 2023 episode.

Those numbers will grow substantially as delayed viewing data trickles in over the next week.

It’s also worth taking into account that the early part of March 30’s SNL aired against an NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Elite Eight contest featuring Alabama and Clemson. A game of this magnitude and its postgame coverage traditionally put a dent in the sketch show’s ratings when the two air at the same time as one another.

Saturday Night Live alum and new member of the “Five-Timers Club” Kristen Wiig will assume host duties for the sketch show this coming weekend. British pop singer RAYE will make her SNL debut as the episode’s musical guest.

I feel bad for the guy, but it was a truly terrible episode with almost no laughs.
