Marcello Hernández is the second Saturday Night Live cast member in as many days to ink a beer endorsement.
Just 24 hours after Colin Jost launched a new ad campaign with Blue Moon, Hernández unveiled his own boozy partnership—with Miller Lite.
The brand first teased the announcement with a short video showing Hernández and his mother, Isabel Cancela, reacting to a ringing phone, hinting at a major “draft” decision to come.
Hours later, Miller Lite dropped a 20-second spot styled after a sports draft, announcing Hernández as its first pick in a fictional 2025 lineup. Rocking sunglasses and seated beside his mom, Hernández beams as his name is called, then takes the stage to hoist a Miller Lite jersey and beer bottle—still sporting a big lipstick smudge on his cheek from Isabel. A chyron flashes his hometown (Miami, Florida) and height: “5’8” (5’6” crossed out).”
“Welcome to the original light beer team, Marcello!” Miller Lite captioned the clip.
The brand’s timing is spot-on. Just like SNL, Miller Lite is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year—and Hernández’s jersey number in the ad nods to the shared milestone.
SNL fans may recognize Cancela from her cameos on the show and from walking the red carpet with her son at SNL‘s 50th anniversary special.
With this new campaign, Hernández joins a growing list of SNL cast members getting into the spirits game. Alongside Jost’s Blue Moon rollout, Devon Walker recently appeared in ads for Captain Morgan.
And the fictional “brand draft” isn’t far off from real life. Since joining SNL, Hernández has landed a series of major ad campaigns—including a T-Mobile spot with Kenan Thompson and another for Major League Baseball.
