Colin Jost’s New Gig? Beer Pitchman and Surprise Staten Island Bartender

Colin Jost is spending his summer away from Saturday Night Live at the bar—but it’s all for a new brand partnership.

The “Weekend Update” anchor has teamed up with Blue Moon as the beer brand’s first-ever celebrity partner, fronting a new campaign that’s equal parts meta and citrusy.

The campaign, titled Nothing Outshines a Blue Moon, features two new ads co-created by Jost, which will air on TV, streaming, and digital platforms.

In one spot, Jost hesitates to eat the beer’s signature orange garnish—until he’s guilted into it by an anthropomorphized young orange and his proud father. “It’s an honor to be chosen for a Blue Moon,” the father says solemnly.

In the second, things get self-referential. Jost is on set filming a Blue Moon ad, only to realize that he’s not the star—the beer is.

To mark the launch, the Staten Island native made a surprise hometown tour Tuesday night, popping up at three local bars to serve Blue Moons. “It’s extremely hot so I’m buying anyone who’s on Staten Island a round of Blue Moon TONIGHT,” Jost wrote on Instagram. “Come on by for ONE free Blue Moon. I’m not that rich.”

Jost dropped by Jody’s Club Forest, The Kettle Black, and O’Neill’s, where he took photos with customers and got behind the bar.

The hometown pride doesn’t stop at beer. Just last month, Jost visited the College of Staten Island, where he was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. Between the diploma and the drink tickets, it’s shaping up to be a very Staten Island summer for the Weekend Update anchor.
