 The Late Show with Stephen Colbert continued its Nielsen ratings streak the week of October 28, 2024. CBS’ 11:35 p.m. late-night offering defeated its timeslot counterparts for the third consecutive week, both in total viewers and among the key P18-49 demo, according to Nielsen live plus three day data.
The Late Show won the week with an average of 2,380,000 total viewers with 277,000 P18-49. That’s down -4% in total viewers but up +1% among P18-49 from the week prior (week of Oct. 21 ), and up +1% in total viewers and +7% among P18-49 from the year-ago week (Oct. 30, 2023). After a rerun-filled dark week, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! returned with new shows beginning Monday, Oct. 28, with the program averaging 1,837,000 total viewers with 230,000 P18-49 for the week. The show gained +45% in total viewers and +22% among P18-49 from the week before (all repeats), gained +9% but shed -0.4%, respectively, from the year-ago week. Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s week of Oct. 28 Nielsen show averages are based on data from four first-run episodes and a Friday rebroadcast.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon averaged 1,159,000 total viewers with 175,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m. for the week beginning Oct. 28. The show shed -5% in total viewers and -8% among P18-49 from the week before; -14% and -23%, respectively, from the year-ago week. Following The Tonight Show, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers aired four new episodes (Monday-Thursday) with a Friday rebroadcast this past week, with the 12:35 a.m. telecasts averaging a timeslot-high 950,000 total viewers with 139,000 P18-49. That’s down -1% in total viewers, and -8% among P18-49 from the previous week, up +4% but -17%, respectively, from the year-ago week.Â
After The Late Show, CBS’ After Midnight hosted by Taylor Tomlinson averaged 663,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 144,000 P18-49 for the week of Oct. 28. That’s down -4% in total viewers, and -9% among P18-49 from the week prior. After Midnight‘s Nielsen ratings averages for the week are based on data from four first-run episodes and a Friday rebroadcast.
Following Jimmy Kimmel Live!, ABC’s late night news program Nightline averaged 906,000 total viewers with 130,000 P18-49 for the week of Oct. 28, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s up +5% in total viewers and flat among P18-49 from the week prior, -8% and -8%, respectively, from the year-ago week.
With Jon Stewart hosting Monday, and Ronny Chieng assuming host duties Tuesday through Thursday, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show averaged 1,042,000 total viewers with 193,000 P18-49 for the week of Oct. 28, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s down -13% in total viewers and -20% among P18-49 from the week prior; +142% and +45%, respectively, from the year-ago week.
