Late Night Ratings: Week of March 11, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night weekly live-plus-three ratings on a three (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

New week, similar Nielsen ratings story: CBS The Late Show with Stephen Colbert averaged more total viewers and P18-49 viewers than the late-night competition for the week of March 11, 2024.

CBS’ 11:35 p.m. offering averaged 2,442,000 total linear viewers and 265,000 P18-49 viewers for the aforementioned week, per Nielsen live-plus-three data. That’s down -6% in total viewers and -5% in P18-49 viewers from what the show averaged the week prior (March 4, 2024).

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split second place this past week.

The Tonight Show averaged 217,000 P18-49 viewers (No. 2 overall) and 1,420,000 total linear viewers (No. 3 overall) at 11:35 p.m. for the week of March 11. That’s up +9% in total viewers but -6% in P18-49 viewers from what the program averaged the previous week.

For the week of March 11, 2024, per Listenfirst, @FallonTonight digital platforms generated 178.4 million views. The week prior, @FallonTonight digital platforms brought in 116 million video views across Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and X per ListenFirst.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged the second-most total viewers (1,896,000) and third-most P18-49 viewers (209,000) at 11:35 p.m. for the week of March 11. Those are solid numbers for the program. When compared with the most-recent week of original episodes (starting Feb. 26, 2024), JKL showed +17% growth in total viewers and +33% growth in P18-49 viewers. ABC did not submit Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewer data to Nielsen for the week starting March 4, when the show aired exclusively repeats.

At 12:37 a.m., NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers took first place in both key measurements for the second consecutive week, averaging 1,005,000 total linear viewers and 156,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-three-day data. That’s up +13% in total viewers and +11% in P18-49 viewers from the week prior.

ABC’s Nightline and CBS’ After Midnight split second place at 12:37 a.m. this past week.

Hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, After Midnight averaged 139,000 P18-49 viewers in the timeslot, second-most behind NBC and ahead of ABC, and up +7% from what the show drew the previous week. CBS’ 12:37 a.m. offering also averaged 675,000 total linear viewers for the week, per live-plus-three data. That’s basically flat from the week prior (+1,000 in total viewers), third behind NBC and ABC.

ABC News’ Nightline finished second in total viewers (910,000) and third in P18-49 viewers (122,000) at 12:37 a.m. The half-hour late night news program gained +27% in total viewers and +30% in P18-49 viewers from the week before.

Lastly, The Daily Show on Comedy Central saw a mixed ratings trend (but still stronger relative to the pre-Jon Stewart era). For the week of March 11, Daily Show averaged 1,058,000 total linear viewers and 187,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s up +3% in total viewers but -14% in P18-49 viewers from what the show averaged the week before.
