With NBC’s late night programming once again preempted for Olympics programming, ABC and CBS once again went head to head on Tuesday, August 6.

As was the case last week, both networks are airing reruns of their respective late-night shows until the Olympics are over, with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert taking sole ownership of first place at 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday.

CBS aired The Late Show‘s July 24, 2024 episode this past Tuesday, and the telecast averaged 1,314,000 total viewers with 173,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +19% and +24%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); up +13% and +15%, respectively, compared to the previous Tuesday (a rebroadcast on July 30).

At the same time, ABC aired a repeat of Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘s July 17, 2024 episode, and that telecast averaged 1,046,000 total viewers with 145,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +12% and +1%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); up +16% and +54%, respectively, from the Tuesday prior (another rebroadcast).

Following The Late Show, CBS aired a repeat of After Midnight‘s May 9, 2024 episode, and that telecast averaged 503,000 total viewers with 91,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +14% and flat, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); up +14% and +36%, respectively from the previous Tuesday (another rebroadcast).

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, and the 12:35 a.m. program averaged 674,000 total viewers with 112,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +13% and flat, respectively, from the day before; up +8% and +90%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode.
