Late Night Ratings: Tuesday, August 27, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

Day two of this rerun-filled week saw top finishes for NBC late-night, and day-to-day gains for most of the shows across networks.

NBC re-aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s August 20, 2024 episode this past Tuesday. The 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,005,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 174,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s up +11% in total viewers and +38% in P18-49 viewers from the Monday, August 26 episode; +31% in total viewers and +33% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Tuesday, when Tonight Show (and its broadcast late-night counterparts) didn’t start until 12:25 a.m. ET in light of Democratic National Convention coverage.

CBS re-aired The Late Show‘s August 20, 2024 episode Monday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,422,000 total viewers with 155,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +19% and +41%, respectively, from the the previous day’s Late Show; but -12% and -9%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode (which started at 12:20 a.m. ET).

ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live! ‘s August 22, 2024 episode this past Tuesday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 856,000 total viewers with 131,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -9% and -2%, respectively, from the previous day’s Kimmel; but +6% and +14%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s episode (which started at 12:23 a.m.).

Following Tuesday’s Fallon, NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ August 13, 2024 episode. The 12:35 a.m. telecast averaged 631,000 total viewers with 117,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +4% and +14%, respectively, from the previous day’s episode; but -14% and -35%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday’s Late Night (which started at 1:28 a.m.).

Following Colbert, CBS’ re-aired After Midnight‘s June 12, 2024 episode, and the telecast averaged 467,000 total viewers with 56,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +3% and +14%, respectively, from the day before; but -13% and -35%, respectively, from the Tuesday before (when the program started at 1:22 a.m.).

Following Kimmel, ABC News’ Nightline averaged 600,000 total viewers with 92,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +3% and +7%, respectively, from the day before; +21% and +42%, respectively, from the previous Tuesday (when Nightline started at 1:25 a.m.).

Comedy Central did not air The Daily Show on Tuesday, August 27.
