Late Night Ratings: Monday, August 26, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

With each of the nightly late-night shows airing repeats this last week of the summer, Nielsen ratings took a predictable dip Monday.

Still, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! kicked off the new week starting August 26 by seeing their reruns splitting first place.

CBS re-aired The Late Show‘s August 15, 2024 episode Monday, and the telecast averaged 1,199,000 total viewers with 110,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +138% in total viewers, but -21% in P18-49 viewers vs. the previous Monday’s Late Show (August 19 first-run broadcast), when the program didn’t start until 1 a.m. ET due to Democratic National Convention coverage.

ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live! ‘s June 24, 2024 episode this past Monday, and the telecast averaged 938,000 total viewers with a timeslot-high 133,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s a whopping +127% and +183%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s Kimmel (which started at 1:01 a.m.).

NBC re-aired The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘s August 12, 2024 episode this past Monday, with the telecast averaging 907,000 total viewers with 126,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live plus same day data. That’s +139% and +38%, respectively, from Monday before (when Tonight Show started at 1:05 a.m. ET).

Hitting the fast forward button, following Fallon,  NBC re-aired Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ July 15, 2024 episode Monday at 12:35 a.m. The telecast averaged 525,000 total viewers with 93,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -3% and +19%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s Late Night (which started at 2 a.m.).

Following The Late Show, CBS’ After Midnight re-aired its July 9, 2024 episode, and the telecast averaged 451,000 total viewers with only 49,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -62% and -36%, respectively, from the Monday before (when the program started at 2:02 a.m.).

Following Kimmel, ABC News’ Nightline averaged 580,000 total viewers with 86,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +3% and +161%, respectively, from the Monday prior (when Nightline started at 2:03 a.m.).

Comedy Central did not air The Daily Show on Monday, August 26.
