Late Night Ratings: Monday, June 17, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen. However, the release of June 17, 2024 ratings have been delayed an additional day due to the Juneteenth holiday.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Nightline each delivered a strong Nielsen ratings performance on Monday, June 17, with help from ABC’s primetime broadcast of the fifth and final 2024 NBA Finals game.

Riding the wave of its Finals lead-in, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,589,000 total viewers with a late night-high 339,000 P18-49 on Monday, June 17, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +62% and +94%, respectively, from the previous Monday telecast (a rebroadcast without an NBA Finals lead-in). It’s also worth taking into account that the June 17 Kimmel didn’t start until 12:22 a.m. ET, or the audience would have likely been even larger. Austin Butler, and Lionel Boyce were guests on the Monday, June 17 Jimmy Kimmel Live! Madison Beer performed on the program.

Despite finishing third behind ABC and NBC in P18-49 viewers on Monday, CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert once again averaged the largest total audience in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot. The program’s 2,028,000 total viewers average on Monday, June 17 is -3% from the previous Monday, while its 174,000 P18-49 viewer average is -29% from that same Monday. Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Callum Turner were guests on the June 17 edition of The Late Show. Trombone Shorty performed.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon finished third at 11:35 p.m. in total viewers, and second in P18-49 on Monday, June 17, averaging 1,271,000 and 202,000 in the respective measurements. That’s % and %, respectively, from the show’s Monday, June 10 averages. Eddie Murphy, and Matty Matheson were guests on the June 17 Tonight Show. Diljit Dosanjh performed.

Following Fallon, the Monday, June 17 edition of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 727,000 total viewers with 125,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -10% in total viewers and -2% in P18-49 from prior Monday. Ayo Edebiri, Luke Wilson, and Michael Marcagi were Meyers’ Monday, June 17 guests.  Mario Duplantier sat in with the 8G Band.

Following Colbert, CBS’ After Midnight averaged 535,000 total viewers with just 94,000 P18-49 viewers in the 12:35 a.m. hour, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -14% in total viewers and -28% in P18-49 from the previous Monday. Sherry Cola, Solomon Georgio, and Debra DiGiovanni appeared on the Taylor Tomlinson-fronted program.

Following Kimmel, ABC’s Nightline averaged 912,000 total viewers and 210,000 P18-49 at 1:24 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. In addition to beating CBS’ and NBC’s 11:35 p.m. shows in the key demo, Nightline gained +45% in total viewers and +139% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday.

Lastly, The Daily Show was hosted by Jon Stewart on Monday, June 17, and per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the episode averaged 740,000 total viewers, and 165,000 P18-49. Relative to Stewart’s previous Monday episode (June 10), the June 17 episode shed -4% in total viewers but gained +18% in P18-49. Protestant minister, social activist, and professor Rev. Dr. William Barber II joined Stewart on Monday’s Daily Show.
