Late-night went dark on Monday, July 1, and each of the talk shows aired old episodes.
CBS presented a rebroadcast of Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s May 23, 2024 episode this past Monday. The 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,288,000 total viewers with 163,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -5% in total viewers, and -19% among P18-49 from the previous Monday (also a rebroadcast).
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon presented a rebroadcast of its June 10, 2024 episode. The 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,030,000 total viewers with 134,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data for Monday. That’s -27% and -47%, respectively, from the week-ago telecast (a rebroadcast on June 24).
ABC did not submit Monday, July 1 Jimmy Kimmel Live! viewing data to Nielsen. The program aired its June 5, 2024 rebroadcast that day. Kimmel is dark for the entire week of July 1, and is airing past episodes.
Following The Tonight Show, NBC presented a rebroadcast of Late Night with Seth Meyers‘ June 4, 2024 episode, which averaged 518,000 total viewers with only 65,000 P18-49 on Monday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. Late Night shed -29% in total viewers, and -53% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s telecast (also a rebroadcast).
Following Colbert’s Late Show, CBS presented a rebroadcast of After Midnight‘s April 8, 2024 episode. The telecast averaged 494,000 total viewers with 83,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. The After Midnight rebroadcast shed -13% in total viewers, and -37% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s telecast (also a rebroadcast).
Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, which averaged 674,000 total viewers with 91,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s a +1% improvement in total viewers but a -34% decline in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s episode.
Several shows will continue to air old episodes this week leading up to the Independence Day holiday (Thursday, July 4).
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show did not air on Monday, and is not airing for the remainder of the week.
