Late Night Ratings: Monday, April 22, 2024

It’s a dark week for several late-night shows, but CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! split first place on Monday, April 22.

Per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged 1,745,000 total viewers and 153,000 P18-49 viewers on Monday. That’s +12% in total viewers but -26% among P18-49 from the previous Monday episode (April 15). Unlike his 11:35 p.m. competition, Kimmel was live on Monday, and his guests were Kim Kardashian, and Ramón Rodríguez. Real Estate performed.

With The Late Show being dark, CBS aired the show’s April 10, 2024 episode this past Monday at 11:35 p.m. The telecast averaged 1,393,000 total viewers and 206,000 P18-49. That’s -34% and -19%, respectively, from the previous Monday episode (a new one).

Similar to The Late Show, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers are dark this week, and repeats filled their respective timeslots.

The Tonight Show’s March 12, 2024 episode aired this past Monday at 11:35 p.m. It averaged 1,100,000 total viewers and 163,000 P18-49 viewers, -3% and -11%, respectively, from the previous Monday’s episode (also a repeat).

Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of its March 7, 2024 episode this past Monday at 12:35 a.m. It averaged 693,000 total viewers and 112,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s just -0.1% in total viewers, but +8% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday’s episode, also a repeat.

CBS’ After Midnight, unlike The Late Show, was new on Monday, and the episode averaged 617,000 total viewers and 132,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. With a weaker-than-usual lead-in, the show shed -6% in total viewers, and -2% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday episode. Caitlin Reilly, Gillian Jacobs, and Pete Holmes appeared on Taylor Tomlinson’s After Midnight this past Monday, April 22.

ABC’s half-hour late night news program Nightline averaged 897,000 total viewers and 108,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That’s up +18% in total viewers, but -15% in P18-49 viewers from the Monday before.

Lastly, Jon Stewart hosted Comedy Central’s The Daily Show on Monday, and the episode drew 686,000 total viewers and 158,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -7.5% in total viewers, but up +42% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Monday episode. Salman Rushdie was Stewart’s Daily Show guest this past Monday, April 22.
