Friday, August 2 was a quiet day for late night. NBC preempted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers for Paris Summer Olympics coverage, while ABC and CBS re-aired past episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and After Midnight in their traditional timeslots.Â
The Late Show‘s July 22, 2024 episode averaged 1,162,000 total viewers with 163,000 P18-49 this past Friday on CBS, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +2% in total viewers and +9% in P18-49 viewers from the day before (also a rebroadcast); +6% and +23%, respectively, from the previous Friday telecast (another rebroadcast).
At the same time, ABC re-aired Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s July 10, 2024 episode, and that telecast averaged 815,000 total viewers with 119,000 P18-49. That’s -24% and -41%, respectively, from the day before (also a rebroadcast); -12% and -8%, respectively, from the prior Friday (another rebroadcast).
Following Colbert, CBS re-aired the May 23, 2024 episode of After Midnight. The 12:35 a.m. telecast averaged 479,000 total viewers with 116,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +11% and a whopping +90%, respectively, from the day before (a rebroadcast); +1% and +29%, respectively, from the previous Friday (also a rebroadcast).
Following Kimmel, a new episode of Nightline averaged 516,000 total viewers with only 81,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -9% and -18%, respectively, from the day before; -13% and -5%, respectively, from the Friday prior.
