Late Night Ratings: Friday, April 19, 2024

Note: LateNighter generally posts late night daily ratings on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

Each of the late-night talk shows aired reruns this past Friday, but ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! out-performed the competition.

ABC broadcast a repeat of JKL’s April 11 episode, and per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, it averaged an 11:35 p.m. timeslot-high 1,379,000 total viewers and 204,000 P18-49 viewers. That represents a -14% decline in total viewers from the previous night’s episode (a new one), but a +9% improvement from the previous Friday episode (also a repeat). The show’s 204,000 P18-49 viewer average this past Friday is quite strong, up +19% from the night before and +42% from the Friday before.

CBS televised The Late Show’s March 5, 2024 episode this past Friday at 11:35 p.m., and it averaged 1,353,000 total viewers and 200,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -32% and -15%, respectively, from the previous day’s new episode, but +21% and +24%, respectively, from the previous Friday episode (a repeat).

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers were both dark the week starting April 15, and remain dark the week of April 22.

The Tonight Show aired a repeat of its March 8, 2024 episode this past Friday, which averaged 1,066,000 total viewers and 178,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -17% in total viewers, but +7% in P18-49 viewers from the previous night’s repeat telecast, -27% in total viewers, and -7% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Friday episode (a new one).

Late Night with Seth Meyers aired a repeat of March 25, 2024 episode this past Friday. The 12:36 a.m. telecast averaged 654,000 total viewers and 116,000 P18-49 viewers. That’s -16% and -10%, respectively, from the previous night’s repeat, -14% and -11%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s Late Night (also a repeat).

Similar to The Late Show, CBS’ After Midnight aired a repeat of its March 5 episode this past Friday. It averaged 573,000 total viewers and 125,000 P18-49 viewers at 11:35 p.m., -10% and -2%, respectively, from the previous night’s episode. Compared to the most-recent Friday episode (also a repeat), After Midnight shed -4% in total viewers but gained +13% in P18-49 viewers.

ABC News’ half-hour offering Nightline aired an original episode this past Friday, and it fared well in the ratings. The broadcast averaged 829,000 total viewers and 127,000 P18-49 viewers at 12:37 a.m. That represents a +2% gain in total viewers and an +8% gain in P18-49 viewers from the day before, a +14% gain in total viewers, and a +26% gain in P18-49 viewers from the previous Friday episode.
