Ever wish the mind behind Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Bill Brasky’s Super Fans, and TV Funhouse could write for you? Here’s your chance.
Robert Smigel is teaming with Will Ferrell to offer his writing skills to the world via a new podcast, Humor Me with Robert Smigel & Friends.
On Humor Me, Smigel and his guests—a lineup of professional writers and comedians—will help listeners write all kinds of prepared remarks, “from a speech or toast or eulogy” to “a presentation or application essay or a thank you note or just slamming someone online,” Smigel says. (His announcement video offers a few more suggestions, like letters to a congressman, Santa, or a longtime crush—or, if you’re Conan O’Brien, an Oscars monologue.)
“We thought it would be entertainment to showcase funny people writing,” Smigel says, “so here’s this.”
Smigel’s long list of writing credits include Saturday Night Live, Late Night with Conan O’Brien (where he served as the show’s first head writer), and films like You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, The Week Of, and Leo.
Humor Me is produced by Big Money Players, Will Ferrell’s podcast network. A partner of iHeartMedia, Big Money Players has been home to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ show Las Culturistas since 2020. Its roster also includes The Nikki Glaser Podcast, My Momma Told Me (co-hosted by Langston Kerman), and The Amber & Lacey Lacey & Amber Show (with Amber Ruffin).
No word yet on a release date for the new podcast. Those hoping to enlist the creatives at Humor Me with Robert Smigel & Friends can submit a message to the show via Speakpipe.
