While Netflix has revealed precious little about plans for John Mulaney’s follow-up to last spring’s six-episode talk show pop up Everybody’s in L.A., at least one aspect will remain unchanged.
Like its predecessor, Everybody’s Live will stream live from start to finish without commercial interruption for all Netflix subscribers. Following each episode’s live stream, ad breaks will be inserted for those subscribed to one of the platform’s ad-supported tiers.
LateNighter had been tipped earlier that Mulaney’s new show would be adopting live commercial breaks, in line with the tack Netflix has taken with live events as of late, from football and wrestling to the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. If this was ever in fact the plan, it isn’t now, with the streamer affirming Friday afternoon that Everybody’s Live will stream live ad-free.
Premiering next Wednesday March 12th, Everybody’s Live is said to have been picked up for two 12-episode seasons. Episodes will stream live weekly Wednesday nights at 10pm ET / 7pm PT, and will be available afterwards on demand.
Like its predecessor, episodes of Everybody’s Live will feature a panel of guests taking the couch for a joint conversation. Alongside Mulaney, Richard Kind is also returning as sidekick/announcer.
“We will be live globally with no delay. We will never be relevant. We will never be your source of news. We will always be reckless. Netflix will always provide us with data that we will ignore.” Mulaney teased when the show was officially announced at a “Next on Netflix” press event in January .
“It’s the one place where you can see Arnold Schwarzenegger sitting next to Nikki Glaser sitting next to a family therapist with music by Mannequin Pussy,” he added. “That’s just an idea, we don’t know if we can lock in Mannequin Pussy.”
Netflix released a thematically consistent first trailer for the show on Wednesday.
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney is produced by Mulaney’s Multiple Camera Productions shingle, with Everybody’s in LA co-showrunner Ashley Edens serving as executive producer.
As Olivia said “you got a family to think about now”. And I’m so glad we get to benefit from him staying home! Love it.. can’t wait to see him
