John Mulaney has dropped the first trailer for his new Netflix show, though he might still be waiting for his cue.
The promo clip for Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney—just released by Netflix—plays like a smirking reminder of the sort of warts-and-all chaos that Mulaney’s first talk show for the streamer embraced.
Naturally, Mulaney doesn’t reveal much in the new trailer, limiting his lines to the most basic information that we already know: “Everybody’s Live is on Wednesdays live.” Much of the teaser is spent watching him prepare to say that, discussing with off-screen crew members when he should be cued to speak to a deep-zooming drone camera.
But the video does offer a clue about to what’s to come, in that it stylistically matches the promos and video pieces seen in Mulaney’s earlier show, John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA. While this new program is understood to be a follow-up to that—including the same elements, in presumably the same format—it’s unclear how much else will carry over from that initial Los Angeles-centric version.
The show is gearing up fast for a launch next week. Just days ago, audience ticket requests opened for the first two months of tapings.
The show, which a synopsis declares “the first-ever celebrity sit-down talk show,” was reportedly given a 12-episode order for its first season and was already renewed for a second.
Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney premieres on Netflix Wednesday, March 12, at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT. His guests have not yet been announced.
