Jimmy Kimmel’s Summer Guest Hosts Revealed

Jimmy Kimmel is heading out for the summer—but Jimmy Kimmel Live! will once again keep the lights on with a rotating lineup of guest hosts.

A just-released new promo (above) reveals that the show’s summer guest hosts will include first-time hosts Colman Domingo and Ike Barinholtz, and returning hosts Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish, and Jelly Roll.

Haddish is first up, filling in for Kimmel the week of July 6. ABC has not announced dates for each of the other hosts, though plans for two had already been revealed on air in recent weeks.

During Colman Domingo’s appearance last week, Kimmel thanked the Emmy-winning and Academy Award-nominated actor “in advance” for filling in as guest host the week of July 20.

“Since you’re here, I figured maybe we would have a little toast,” Kimmel said, bringing out Guillermo Rodriguez with tequila. “You and Guillermo are going to be working very closely together.”

“Congratulations on your film with Steven Spielberg. Avenging Zendaya. Jumping out of a plane for the first time. Rappelling down the side of a mountain,” Kimmel said, before adding, “Am I forgetting anything? Oh, hosting this show, the biggest thing.”

In a guest appearance last month, Anthony Anderson likewise revealed he’d be hosting the show the week of August 10. Anderson is Kimmel’s most frequent guest host, having hosted Jimmy Kimmel Live! 24 times to date.

This will mark the fifth summer Kimmel has taken off from the show, a break he first began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

“There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy,” he said at the time. “I just need a couple of months off.”

Kimmel continued the tradition in 2021, 2022, and 2024. His 2023 summer break coincided with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which shut down late-night production.

Kimmel is the only host in the modern late-night ecosystem who regularly welcomes guest hosts. Most fill in for a full week, while others have shared a week with fellow guest hosts.

Over the years, Kimmel’s summer replacements have included a star-studded lineup of guest hosts, including Martin Short, Dana Carvey, Chelsea Handler, Jeff Goldblum, RuPaul, Nikki Glaser, David Alan Grier, Al Franken, Rob McElhenney, Desus Nice, Joel McHale, George Lopez, Lamorne Morris, Sean Hayes, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Nicole Byer, Kerry Washington, and Simu Liu.

Kimmel’s last night behind the desk before his summer break is tonight. The show will then go dark for two weeks before returning with Haddish Monday July 6.

Kimmel is expected to return to his 11:35 p.m. post the day after Labor Day.
