Jimmy Kimmel’s Cousin Sal Hints at More Bombshells to Come

Sal Iacono, Jimmy Kimmel’s cousin and a longtime writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, said late Sunday there are still “a couple bombshells” to come following ABC’s decision to suspend the late-night program indefinitely.

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Iacono said he didn’t know where Kimmel’s saga with ABC would land, but added, “I’m feeling good. We’re going to be all right. Everything’s going to be just fine.”

ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air shortly before his show’s taping last Wednesday after two of its station groups told the network that they planned to preempt Kimmel at the urging of FCC chair Brendan Carr. Kimmel was reportedly planning to address the growing right-wing furor over a remark he’d made on his show two nights earlier about the MAGA movement’s response to unfolding details about Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin

Disney, ABC’s parent company, is continuing talks with Kimmel while staff remain on payroll.

Iacono said his family spent time with Kimmel after what he called a “tumultuous week.” He recalled his teenage son telling Kimmel that classmates said it wasn’t right what had happened to him. Kimmel replied, “Next time tell them I’m not too worried—my cousin Jimmy is an excellent dancer.”

Simmons, who himself briefly worked as a writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in its early years, said Kimmel would succeed in whatever he chose to do, joking that he could even start a barbecue pop-up in the South Bay.

Iacono concluded, “That’s all I have to say right now. I can’t really say anything. We both know too much.”
