On the fifth anniversary of the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Jimmy Kimmel called out the White House for whitewashing the infamous moment in history via a page on its official website.
Trump supporters’ storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, “was a selfish, disgraceful, tyrannical, and dangerous act,” Kimmel reminded viewers with his Tuesday-night Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue. “Five years ago today, we saw proof live in front of our eyes that the American president is as un-American as they come.
“And it’s very important that we don’t forget that, that we don’t give in to this revisionist history,” Kimmel said—especially since the official White House website created a page that claims Democrats “staged the real insurrection by certifying a fraud-ridden election.”
“They actually wrote that,” Kimmel marveled. “And they go on to praise Trump for pardoning all the ‘patriotic trespassers’ and ‘peaceful protesters.'”
“Happy Stormiversary, everybody!” the late-night host quipped, sarcastically.
Kimmel also noted that an official plaque honoring the law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol that day not only isn’t hanging anywhere on government grounds—”Mike Johnson, the Squeaker of the House, refused to hang the plaque; Mike Pence, they were okay with hanging”—but it has gone missing.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! wrapped up its Stormiversary coverage with a fake informercial in which Trump hawks a “beautiful January 6th Fifth Anniversary Commemorative Plate Set.”
Each plate captures iconic imagery from that day, “from podium-stealing guy to Confederate flag guy to pipe bomb guy,” plus Congressman Josh Hawley both in fist-pumping and running-for-his-life mode.
“These brave men and husky women climbed so I could soar,” Trump declares at the end of his sales pitch.
There was no “Insurrection.”. it was deemed a “riot.”. Jimmy’s wife suffers from Stage 5 TDs and James too who has no spine nor integrity.
This is an immediate contender for most foolish comment of the month.
